The holiday season is in full swing, are you ready? Some people find getting organized for the holidays a stressful process, while others are energized. Retailers will be fighting for your holiday dollars, and it’s easy to get caught up in all that is going on. Regardless of where you are on the holiday season spectrum, there is work to be done to plan out the coming weeks.
Plan your shopping: Although gift cards can feel practical, its okay to spend time finding that special gift for a loved one, friend or colleague. I begin my shopping at home with a list of who I have to buy for and what I might be a good gift for them and what retailer might have those items. There are digital list apps that allow you to carry your ‘list’ with you on your phone. Then you’ll always have it when out and about this holiday season.
Prep your kitchen space: It doesn’t matter if you are hosting a holiday meal or party, baking cookies for work friends or planning a gift exchange. You need to spend some time in your kitchen and plan what your serving or baking and then you need to get ready.
Ask for help or let it go: Trying to decide what you need to do versus what you want to do is a tough choice, but remember ‘many hands make light work.’ Hosting a party: ask friends to help with cleaning beforehand, make it potluck, or ask someone to organize games or activities for your party. Coordinate with your family to minimize the number of gifts for each person.
Wishing you a joyous and relaxing holiday season.
